90 Hour Checks

ATTENTION Spring 2016 GRADUATES

If you plan to graduate in May 2016, please take the following actions to ensure you meet graduation requirements:

• Review your CAPP Degree Evaluation in Banner Self Service.  If a red “No” appears next to a course requirement, take one of the following actions:
• Ask your advisor to help you correct any CAPP errors during your 90 Hour Check appointment (see below).
• Plan to enroll in the course in Summer 2016 and graduate August 2016.
• Schedule a “90 Hour Check” with your academic advisor by February 26th. During this appointment, your advisor will help you determine if you are on-track for your desired graduation date.  Appointments can be made via Starfish. Students must bring a copy of their CAPP Degree Evaluation to this appointment.

Freshman Visits

Attention: First-semester Freshmen

It's time to schedule your Freshman Visit! This is a pre-registration advising meeting where we will discuss your academic record and goals one-on-one. It will help you better prepare for Freshman Group Advising in March.  Please schedule your appointment between January 25 - February 5.

To schedule your Freshman Visit, log into starfish.uncc.edu and visit "My Success Network." Click on your advisor's name and select an appointment time. Be sure to include "Freshman Visit" in the notes section.  If you have problems using Starfish, please call the Business Advising Center at 704-687-7585.

Eligible new Transfer Students can declare an upper level major after January 25th

• Did you come through SOAR in December or January as a Transfer Student?
• Have you completed all progression courses with a 2.5 and earned at least 60 hours?

If so, beginning on January 25th, you will be eligible to declare your upper level major by filling out the Declaration of Major Form (If this link is inactive, please check back later. Thank you.)  This is an online request for current Belk College pre-majors who are eligible to declare their majors.

You will not receive confirmation that this has been received or updated. You can check your online account for the change a week or so after you have submitted the form.

11th Annual Belk College Etiquette Dinner

Dear Belk College Students:

You’re invited to attend the 11^th Annual Belk College Etiquette Dinner, sponsored by Enactus.  Learn about dining etiquette in a business setting and the art of small talk.  The Etiquette Dinner will be held on Tuesday, February 16th from 6:00-8:00pm in the Barnhardt Student Activities Center, Salons A&B. 

Event is FREE to students who register online by Monday, Feb 8^th.  You must be registered to attend the event.  Professional Dress is required.

Student Job and Internship Fair to offer 4,800-plus opportunities

Roughly 120 employers are expected at the Student Job and Internship Fair scheduled for Friday, Jan. 29, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.

Organized by the University Career Center, this newly renamed event focuses on internships, co-ops and student jobs (part-time, full-time and temporary jobs that don’t require a degree).  These types of opportunities allow students to build their resume through career-relevant experience, gain financial support and explore potential career paths, said Career Center officials.

The Student Job and Internship Fair is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it is open to all undergraduate and graduate students.

Attendees should bring copies of their resume and be prepared to complete job applications; some employers will conduct interviews during the event.  Business casual or professional attire is highly recommended.

Representatives from Crown Castle, Autism Charlotte, Bosch Rexroth, Carowinds, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, IKEA, Girl Scouts, Kohl’s, Mooresville Spinners, TIAA-CREF, U.S. National Whitewater Center, the University Professional Internship Program and other organizations will attend.
