Meet the Chair!

Dr. Antonis C. Stylianou joined the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1990. In addition to consulting with several Fortune 1000 companies and non-profits organizations, his industry experience includes an appointment in the Information Management department at Duke Energy. 

Dr. Stylianou has published numerous research articles and has received funding for his research from the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Education, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and other sources. He currently serves as a senior editor for the Database for Advances in Information Systems journal. 

In addition to UNC Charlotte, he has taught courses and delivered seminars at Kent State University, Villanova University, Mannheim University (Germany), Cologne University (Germany), and EGADE (Technologico de Monterrey, Mexico).

Suzanne Jasmine

I started working as the Academic and Career Coach for BISOM majors in May 2016, and I have enjoyed seeing the department grow their three outstanding majors! I am very proud of my students' accomplishments and love supporting them in their academic and career development. Never hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about Management Information Systems!

I grew up in Concord, NC (Go Spiders!) and pursued a B.A. in Psychology at UNC-Chapel Hill followed by a M.Ed. in Student Affairs at Clemson University. I currently live in the Noda area with my fiance, Harrison, and we love the QC! We enjoy traveling and staying active through running, playing golf, and hiking with our German Shorthaired Pointer, Tagg.

Talent Acquisition Compliance Summit

The Center for Workplace Compliance (CWC), a national employer association focused on workplace compliance, will hold its annual Talent Acquisition Compliance Summit at the Charlotte Marriott City Center on May 9 – 10.

The summit – the only talent acquisition conference of its kind – brings together representatives from some of the nation’s largest employers to discuss practical strategies for managing talent acquisition compliance requirements and risks. The event also provides attendees an opportunity to network and learn about the legal and regulatory requirements uniquely applicable to sourcing, recruitment, and selection.

This conference provides students interested in human resources – and specifically talent acquisition – a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts and experienced practitioners about real world TA compliance issues and challenges facing employers today.

Welcome Miles Winston!

We are excited to welcome Miles Winston to the Niblock Student Center team as an Academic and Career Coach! He will work with students who are Pre-Accounting or Accounting majors.

Miles previously worked at Winston-Salem State University in Career Development Services. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Winston-Salem State University and a Masters in Public Administration from UNC Pembroke. He is originally from the small town of Oxford but has lived in Durham, Raleigh, Winston-Salem and Charlotte previously.

His advice to students is:  Be active, engaged, and present while taking advantage of the many resources available to you. Also, take some time to enjoy the journey.

Lunch & Learn: Alumni Panel

Please join us Thursday, April 11 for Lunch & Learn: Alumni Panel. We will welcome Belk College alumni to talk to you about their experience at UNC Charlotte, their careers, and advice for during and after college. You will have the chance to ask questions of your own, and this is a great opportunity for advice, networking, and to ask questions of people who have been where you are at! American Marketing Association: Speed-Dating Event and Next Meeting

AMA's next meeting will be a dinner social on April 24th around 5pm. The event is open to anyone as an opportunity to get to know AMA members and what they do. Follow AMA on Instagram for updates. Thanks to the awesome 2018 - 2019 E-board team (pictured below) for an awesome year of events!

AMA recently hosted a Speed-Dating event that welcomed six Charlotte professionals (in bold below) for round table discussions with students. Discussions involved information on their companies and previous work experience, tips for resumes, how to network and job search, and trends in marketing.  Students from Bob Jones University and Winthrop University also attended.

Work in the Belk College as a STW: Technology Student Worker!

Description

This role is for a student worker who will provide support to the Belk College Technology Team and the Belk College Facilities and Operations Team. The selected candidate will be trained to assist with general technology support including imaging and setting up new computers, updating software, maintaining and troubleshooting departmental printers, and setting up video/teleconference equipment. Additional duties include supporting the college facilities and maintenance team, helping move furniture to reconfigure office spaces, and a wide variety of miscellaneous duties as assigned.
