STERIS - Mock Interviews/Networking Opportunity

ATTENTION: Juniors and Seniors In The College of Business!

They are seeking juniors and seniors from the Belk College of Business to help conduct MOCK (practice) interviews!

STERIS is coming to Charlotte to host a variety of training sessions for our home based sales leaders. For one of their trainings, they are certifying many of their hiring managers to be DDI Behavioral Based interviewers. To do so, they need to put their professionals through a series of mock interviews so that they can be assessed. We seek junior/senior level business majors interested in getting interviewing practice to assist us in our employee’s certification.

Interested students should register for the event in Hire-A-Niner; the University Career Center will be in touch with additional information. 

*If you register, you must be able to commit to the morning of Wednesday, April 20th from 9am - 12pm.

Marketing Fun! Upcoming Opportunity to Connect with Faculty


The Marketing Department hosted a "Breakfast for Champions" where Professor Cohen talked about marketing opportunities and the major at UNC Charlotte. Students were treated to breakfast and two students walked away with gift cards.

Earn course credit and get great internship experience with Bank of America’s Applied Technology Program.  This program is offered exclusively to juniors interested in technology and financial services holding a 3.0 GPA or higher with a May 2018 graduation date. Check out the ATP website and attend an information session to learn more. The intern info session will be held Wednesday, April 6th from 12:30pm-1:45pm in Friday, room 153.

Going to need to Repeat a Business Course?

If you earn a D in a business course, you will need to retake it for a better grade. To retake it, you need to fill out a Repeat Authorization Form. The form is For current Belk College students only who earned a “D” in a course and plan to retake it in the upcoming semester or summer session.  This is not a grade replacement request.  See this link for grade replacement information.

Marketing Breakfast March 30th

Interested in Marketing? Upcoming Breakfast for Champions sponsored by the Marketing department.

Company Trek: Bank of America

Bank of America is welcoming a limited number of Belk College of Business students to participate in a Company Trek. Students will have the opportunity to learn about and network with Bank of America employees on the Charlotte Middle Office team, which is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for multiple trading desks. The products range from Agency CMOs, Agency Pass-Throughs, Agency Arms, Reverse Mortgages, Residential Whole Loans, and Non-Agency CMOS. They monitor trades in the portfolios and act as a primary control function. Product Controllers need to consistently track the P&L impact of the trades being booked by the front office/sales teams and analyze the P&L figures for risk and market trends as well as product performance.

The Bank of America Company Trek will take place on Tuesday, April 19th from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm; lunch will be provided. Students must provide their own transportation to and from Bank of America. Business professional attire is required.

Interested students should send their resumes to Jessie Carter (jcart101@uncc.edu), Business Career Advisor in the University Career Center. Again, space is limited; preference will be given to juniors and seniors.

How to Find your Midterm Grades

Midterm Grades have been posted and are a good indicator of your success in a course. To find your Midterm Grades please log into Starfish at starfish.uncc.edu. There, under your student profile, you should be able to see Courses. Select Courses and you should see all the courses you are currently enrolled in for spring 2016.
Under each course you should see Midterm Grade. If your professor has posted your midterm grade, it will be posted there. Remember, professors are not required to post your Midterm Grade and it is ultimately up to you to know where you stand academically in the course.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your assigned academic advisor. Remember that the last day to drop a course is Monday, March 21st at 11:59 PM.

FINN-RMI Curriculum Change

Finance - Risk Management/Insurance majors:

FINN 3275 (Advanced Risk Management) has now become FINN 4275 (Corporate Risk Management). FINN 4275 is now on Banner for Fall 2015 (and it will be offered fall and spring). FINN 3271 is still the pre-req for FINN 4275.

Dassault Systèmes is offering a limited number of students the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of their innovative office here in Charlotte. Students will tour the building, learn more about the company from inside leadership, and network with Dassault Systèmes’ current employees, some of whom are proud UNC Charlotte alumni.

Probation Students: Don’t Forget your 2nd Probation Contract Meeting!

All Belk College of Business Students on Academic Probation have to have two appointments with their assigned academic advisor and a completed probation contract before they can register for summer and fall classes.
Registration opens on March 28th, 2016. If you need to schedule your 1st or 2nd appointment with your assigned Academic Advisor, please call 704-687-7585 or log into starfish.uncc.edu. All requirements have to be meet before your Academic Advisor will release the Probation Contract Hold.
