Students Attend Women In Business Alumni Luncheon

Women in business alumni luncheon

 | Women in Business

Women in Business Ambassadors and Affiliates were invited to the Belk College of Business's first Spring Women in Business Alumni Networking Luncheon. The students arrived prior to the luncheon and had the opportunity to network with many successful professionals in Charlotte.

Natalia Jenkins shared her experience and growth by being apart of the Women in Business Initiative (WIB). She specifically highlighted her time at last year's 2017 WIB Fall Retreat. "By becoming more involved with WIB, I had the opportunity to go on the fall retreat hosted in Greenville, SC. We talked about the inequalities that we face as women in the workplace and how we can combat these barriers. The most memorable activity from the retreat was working on elevator pitches. We partnered up and recorded one another. Seeing myself on camera really showed me areas that I could improve and what I was doing well", said Natalia.

After Natalia spoke, the afternoon featured a presentation by executive coach and Belk College alumna, Heidi Hansen. Heidi is a multi-lingual, with over two decades of corporate training and adult education experience specializing in developing face-to-face networking and facilitating career growth for business professionals.

Heidi's presentation was titled "Purposeful Networking: Dismantle Fear, Build Confidence, Be Effective". The topic was tailored to improve interpersonal skills for introverts in middle and executive management.

If you are interested in joining the Women in Business Initiative and attending future event such as this, make sure to check out womeninbusiess.uncc.edu.
