Declaring your upper-level major as a new transfer student

Are you a new transfer student with more than 60 credit hours?

Have you completed all Pre-Business requirements? If unsure, review them HERE.

If so, after September 1, 2017, the Census Date for Fall Enrollment, you will be eligible to declare your upper level major by filling out the Declaration of Major Form (If this link is inactive, please check back later. Thank you.)  This is an online request for current Belk College pre-majors who are eligible to declare their majors.

You will not receive confirmation that this has been received or updated. You can check your online account for the change a week or so after you have submitted the form.

Walk-Ins for New Transfers (January 24th-February 3rd):

Tuesdays: 1-3:45 with Ms. McLemore

Wednesdays: 9-11:45 with Ms. Jasmine and 1-3:45 with Ms. Howard

Thursdays: 9-11:45 with Mr. Holliday-Millard and 1-3:45 with Ms. Sigmon

Fridays:  9-11:45 with Ms. Harris 

Reasons for Transfer Walk-Ins: 

• Check for updates on transcripts
• Assistance with major declaration
• Quick questions about general education, BCOB requirements, and other opportunities

Please note that appointments are required for all other reasons.

Check to make sure your transcripts are up to date!

1. Log into Self Service Banner
2. Go to your "Student" tab
3. Choose "Records" 
4. Open up your advising transcript

Are all of your transfer hours there?

If you earned an Associate's Degree, does your transcript show INST 1111 General Education Articulation?

If not, you'll want to get a copy of your previous college transcripts to the Admissions department ASAP!

If your transcripts have updated since you were advised at SOAR and you'd like to be re-advised, please schedule an appointment with your advisor on Starfish.

Fall 2016 New Transfer Student Checklist

Congratulations on your admission to UNC Charlotte! Here is a comprehensive checklist of everything you need to do between attending SOAR and your first day of classes. Click the hyperlinks for more information and continue to follow the Belk College Blog for updates!

	Make sure you have activated your NinerNet Account and explored my.uncc.edu.
	Sign up for on-campus placement exams, as appropriate. Math Placement Test Foreign Language Placement Test
	Make sure you have sent all transcripts to Undergraduate Admissions for processing.
	If you haven’t completed the Belk College Pre-Orientation, please do so ASAP!
	Make sure all Immunization Records are up-to-date and current with our Student Health Center.
	Accept your Financial Aid by following these steps: Receiving Your Aid  and contacting Financial Aid if you have further questions.
	Become familiar with our academic advising software and setup your profile in Starfish.
	As appropriate, submit your requests for Transfer Credit Re-Evaluation. General Education: General Education Transfer Credit Re-Evaluation Form Belk College of Business: Please email your academic advisor.
	Familiarize yourself with Moodle and Canvas. These websites are where many of your professors will place assignments, resources, syllabi, and grades.
	Become acquainted with campus via Campus Map and the many different Transportation Services we offer students.
	Make sure you have your 49er-card. If you are interested in a meal plan please review UNCC Meal Plan Options and contact Auxilliary Services.
	Secure a Parking Permit.
	Get a head start on all of the IT Services available to you by visiting this website: New Student IT Services.
	Preorder your textbooks online through our Barnes & Noble Bookstore.
	Check out the University’s Transfer Portal.
	If you’re are moving into a residence hall on campus, follow these guidelines: Fall Move-In Guide.
	If you’re living off campus, use these Off Campus Housing Resources to help you in your transition into the University City area
	Participate in New Student Convocation, your formal welcome to the University on August 22nd, 2016. Attend Belk College on Green, August 22nd, Cato Lawn at 12:00 PM to meet Belk College faculty, staff, and current students.
