49er Impact: Road to Charlotte Venture Challenge

The 49er Impact: Road to Charlotte Venture Challenge (CVC)  is a credentialing program to help you develop entrepreneurial thinking skills and make an impact with your idea through integrative and iterative learning. This program consists of networking and mentoring opportunities, panels and interviews with community and campus leaders, asynchronous learning modules and in-person workshops – all focusing on customer discovery, design thinking, storytelling, innovation and collaboration. This program will take place all semester, providing cash and prizes along the way, as you complete the milestones.

Program Overview

Students will have until April 11th to complete a total of 3 milestones. This program is completely self-paced but there will be a suggested timeline provided.

There are three milestones to complete, with several options to fit everyone's schedule. You decide what you are able to attend and complete, and you design your own path. There are suggested time-lines for each milestone, and as you complete each one, if you meet the suggested time frame, your name will be submitted in a drawing for cash prizes, three $300 cash prizes will be awarded throughout the program. If you get busy and are unable to complete under the suggested time frame, NO WORRIES! You just need to meet the final date of April 11th to turn in your recorded pitch. The Ventureprise team will work with you along the way. Want to learn more? We will be hosting 2 information sessions: Wednesday, February 2nd (Zoom), 6-7pm AND Thursday, February 3rd (In-Person, Pop-In Event), 12pm-2pm/4pm-6pm. Click here to RSVP.

Upon submitting the videos on April 11th, we will pick an overall winner for the grand prize, $3,500. This can be used for a semester's tuition, work on your project, etc. We will also name up to six finalists for the Charlotte Venture Challenge who will compete for additional cash and prizes. Overall, over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded this semester.

Milestones:

  1. Launching
  2. Innovative Learning: Customer Discovery
  3. Making Your Impact
Requirements:
For each Milestone, students will complete 2-3 requirements. These requirements include several options that will help students to develop and elevate their ideas.
  1. Choose to attend class (if in CLAS-3000), attend a workshop or complete an online learning module
  2. Execute crucial steps to completing their pitch (i.e. customer discovery)
  3. Complete projects such as networking, attending a panel, or completing a program like Ventureprise Launch
