PD Meetup: Networking Through Linkdin

Hello everyone! It is your fellow Business Niner and Peer Guide Kiy Roberts with some axe-citing news on the topic Professional Development Meetup: Networking Through LinkedIn.

For starters, I hope that your semester is going well and that you are enjoying campus!

PD Meet Ups are Professional Development events usually hosted via Zoom for about 30 minutes on specific topics to help us as business professionals grow and to make sure that we are gaining real-world experiences that we all need prior to graduating.

The most recent PD Meet Up: Networking Through LinkedIn was on February 9th, 2022 and was hosted by Zack Lord, the Assistant Director of Professional Development & Honors Programs, Niblock Student Center.

My colleague Danielle had the opportunity to attend and spoke about how we can all learn to filter features on LinkedIn whilst searching for jobs and for specific people.

An example used was the fact that when you are searching for a job title you can filter the search to show people who went to UNCC and also to find out if you have a mutual connection. Having a mutual connection can help because you can possibly reach out to that person and ask if they could introduce you to that person who works for the company you’re interested in. Or you can message that person and ask to possibly set up an informational interview and touch on that fact that they went to UNCC.

I think we can all agree about how useful LinkedIn can be!

There are 8 PD Meet ups held each semester and there are 6 more left in this semester.

If you are interested in attending a PD Meet Up it would be best to bookmark the Belk College of Business’ calendar to keep updated register for future PD Meet Ups or PD events:
