PD Lunch & Learn: Managing Your Personal Finances + Growing Your Money
MANAGING YOUR PERSONAL FINANCES + GROWING YOUR MONEY
Hello Business Niners! I hope that you all enjoyed your Spring break whether you caught up on some rest, worked or maybe even traveled. Now it's time to get back in the groove of classes.
This past Wednesday there was a Lunch & Learn featuring Dr. Brad Yeckley, Assistant Director for Financial Literacy here at UNC Charlotte. One of my colleague’s Elmer, who had the opportunity to attend the event stated that the Lunch & Learn session was one of the best Lunch & Learn sessions that he has ever attended.
Dr. Brad Yeckley touched on topics like budgeting, saving and investment, and retirement. The format of the session was more of a discussion structure, and the students were highly engaged while asking questions. The speaker provided business cards for students to set up financial advice appointments with him and his team on campus.

Time
management: (Maintaining balance between school & personal life)
Hello Business Niners It’s your Peer Guide Kiy
with some quick time management tips!
Do you ever feel like you have so many things
to do but so little time?
With all the pressure coming from school to meet coursework and internship
deadlines and trying to make sure that you maintain a good G.P.A whilst
enjoying your college experience can be exhausting sometimes so it is important
to have a plan.
It is very important to keep an updated
schedule. Whether it is using a Calendar app on your phone, Google Calendar, a
physical planner or another way you feel comfortable keeping track of all the
important things that you have to complete. This updated schedule should
include specific times that you would like to accomplish different tasks as
well as personal time for yourself.
A good night's sleep is also essential because
our bodies need time to recharge. Can
you imagine the way one’s body would function without enough sleep? You want to
make sure that you are alert and able to be fully engaged throughout the day.
Lastly, prioritize your work in a meaningful
way. For example, categorize your assignments, internship deadlines and work
tasks in the order in which they are due. Add your class schedule and other
regularly scheduled events to your calendar so that you can plan everything
else based around it. Your course syllabus is your best friend and should be
checked regularly in case there are any changes made. Prioritizing your
coursework is beneficial because it can help you take care of larger
assignments and events first and then the smaller ones.
