Staff Reads the Common Reading Experience Book by Trevor Noah

Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah has been selected as UNC Charlotte’s Common Reading Experience text for Fall 2018.  This engaging, compelling memoir from the host of The Daily Show provides ample opportunities for discussions of systemic inequalities and cultural diversity, a major goal of the UNC Charlotte Common Reading Experience.  The committee is excited to see what instructors who adopt the text (in whole or in part) will be able to do for and with their students to increase their understanding of a complex world. We encourage wide-scale campus engagement with Born a Crime, and we hope that this text will be widely referenced by those who teach first-year students.

There will be several events during the fall semester that allow students, faculty, and staff to explore themes in the book. Click on the following link for event information: Common Reading Experience
