Career Center Meet Up Recap: How to Brand Yourself During the Job Search

From March 29th-April 2nd, the University Career Center held their Graduating Senior Job Search Series. Within this series, programming specifically included strategies on helping students navigate the job search process. An event in this series was to discuss how to brand yourself during the job search.

This particular event was held on March 30th and was hosted by Frenchie Brown (‘91). Brown has been working with Bank of America for 20+ years within Anti-Money Laundering. During this presentation, Brown covered integral components when it comes to individuals branding themselves during the job search process. Among this, particular attention was given to understanding your purpose and developing soft skills so that as an individual, you consistently display compassion for those around you.

Within the initial years on the job market, it is common for individuals to not get their dream job right away. Despite this, it is important to continue to build your brand as your progress through your career. Brown explains that your brand serves as your arsenal, and it is all about who you actually are and what type of person you strive to be. Whether you are passionate about volunteerism, financial literacy, or disaster relief, find what makes you excited and let that guide you when creating your brand. In addition, Brown speaks about the importance of promptness, perseverance, and how each individual holds power within themselves.

Thank you to the University Career Center and Frenchie Brown for hosting such an amazing event! If you missed this event, be sure to check out the University Career Center calendar for their upcoming events at the link below:
