Taking Summer Courses at Other Institutions

Want to take a course(s) at another institution this summer? Great!

Be sure to follow these steps for a seamless process.

  1. Only approved courses can be taken at other institutions. Students are not eligible to take a course they have received a grade in at UNC Charlotte or any upper level business courses.
    • Ex. If you received a D in MATH 1120, you may not retake it somewhere else
    • Ex. BLAW 3150 will not be approved at another institution.
  2. Advisors can not help you with the process of going to another institution. You are responsible of completing the application process, getting admitted, registering, and sending your transfer credit back to UNC Charlotte.
  3. Prior to leaving for the summer, you must complete a transient study form for approval. Completed forms can be dropped off at the BCOB Advising Center desk for approval.
  4. Not sure what class counts? Use the  North Carolina Community College Equivalency List or Transfer Credit Advisor for transfer credit equivalencies.

Note, if taking a prerequisite at another institution, you are ineligible to register for the next course until it appears on your UNCC transcript. There is no way to predict the time frame that this may happen or what courses may be open when it does.

  • Ex. If you take ACCT 2121 at CPCC, you can not register for ACCT 2122 until it transfers back
