AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans

AMA (6 BCOB students and advisor Cindy Fox) recently traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana for the 41st International Collegiate American Marketing Association Conference.
Members connected with 1,400 other college students and learned from renowned speakers, partook in marketing informational sessions, and networked with professionals and other collegiate chapters. Students were able to listen and learn from other chapter members and learn how to grow and improve our AMA chapter at UNCC.

UNCC entered one of many different competitions and were so proud to take home 2nd place for the Social Impact Video Competition. This video, created by AMA members, served as social-impact marketing produced for the “Not In My City Project” organization that raises awareness for human sex-trafficking specifically in the Charlotte area. Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/MKcXtlhq2UI

When not in sessions, students were able to take advantage of exploring the beautiful city of New Orleans and enjoy classic scenes and cuisines such as the French Quarters, Jackson Square, CafĂ© du Monde, Bourbon Street, Garden District, and Lafayette Cemetery.

Hear from members who attended about their experience below. Get involved with AMA and think about attending as a UNCC representative next year!

“As a first-year participant in the AMA International Collegiate Conference, it was amazing to learn from new people and see the passion each chapter and professional had. Being part of the UNCC AMA chapter has helped me connect with other business students and build connections within the Charlotte community, but this conference allowed me to learn and meet new people who had a completely different outlook on AMA. Being surrounded by the enthusiasm of others helped our small chapter feel even more motivated to strive for more and learn what it takes to be more successful. With this experience, one is able to appreciate the ability marketers have in the world and the impact one can make in their own community, let alone our society as a whole.”  -Anuva Fellner, Sophomore

“As a first-year member of AMA, I was not too sure what I’d be getting myself into when I joined this organization. However, looking back, this organization has been the most self-rewarding and beneficial clubs due to the friendships created, knowledge learned, and memories made.  Being chosen to go to the collegiate conference in New Orleans was such an honor and will be an experience I will never forget. While on the trip, I realized how I wanted to become even more involved with AMA and hope to grow our chapter throughout the years so that other members might have the chance to experience what I have this week at the conference.” -Gabrielle Poplin Sophomore

“Traveling to New Orleans with the American Marketing Association was a truly unforgettable experience. From the Cajun cuisine to the live Jazz music all over Bourbon Street, New Orleans is a city bursting with character and culture. I really loved the historic landmarks in New Orleans such as Jackson Square and was extremely impressed by the lively nature of the town. The Marketing Conference we attended in New Orleans was also an exciting event filled with awards and valuable insight into the world of Business.” -Eddy Falls, Junior at UNC Charlotte
